Can ANYONE help me figure out who the artist/painter is?

I have this a href="http://img504.imageshack.us/img504/897/dsc00168a.jpg" rel="nofollow"http://img504.imageshack.us/img504/897/d…/a painting that someone (I think) cut into an oval, artist name on the cutting floor, and lacquered it to an oval piece of plywood. I have always wondered about the origin of this artwork, PLEASE can anyone help?
