What is it like to be the wife/significant other of a OTR (over the road) truck driver?

I understand that the distance and time a part would challenge any relationship, and that trust issues can be a concern for any one no matter your job profession. But I'm guessing that being involved with someone over the road for weeks at a time would be similar to being married to someone in the military. I hear such horror stories about trucker drivers. I feel bad that they have a reputation of being bad boys (when in reality, we can't stereotype all truck drivers). Please share your thoughts/suggestions and stories. I need some peace of mind or a little insight before I get in too deep. Thank you.
