Green Hair Algae?

I have a 55g marine tank with only 1 damsel coral and anemones..I I have live rock also..I run many bio wheel filters on this tank without using chemical filtration...Ive learned about the risk with older carbon through my studies with school..Marine Biology Question is we get a lot of hair algae on the rocks or back of tank..I Have well water which produces alot of phosphates in return I get Hair Algae..Especially after water changes..I have crushed coral also..Do any of you know if those Phosphate pads work?..I have but not enough to keep down the population of the algae...If the pads would work how many would I need for 55g? Thanks!
